IPTV Channels Not Loading: What to Check

When the playlist won't load, the channel list is empty, or channels show but won't start — the checks to run, in order, and how to fix each cause.

"Channels not loading" can mean three different problems. Identify which one you have first — the fixes are different.

The app opens but the channel list is empty or a group is missingB: List is empty or incomplete
Channels are listed but won't start, or show a black screenC: Channels won't play

A: Playlist won't load

  1. Check the URL or login. Re-copy it; look for missing characters, spaces or a cut-off link. See how to add an M3U playlist.
  2. Check your account is active. An expired or unactivated subscription won't return a list. IPTV Apollo customers: contact our team through WhatsApp.
  3. Give it time. Large playlists can take a minute or more on low-powered devices.
  4. Free up storage. Players need space to save and process the list.
  5. Check the device date and time. Wrong clocks can break secure connections.
  6. Try another network or a wired connection to rule out a network block or drop-out.

If the error mentions credentials or authentication, see our guide to fixing login errors.

B: List is empty or incomplete

  1. Look for hidden groups. You (or a previous setup) may have hidden categories. Check the player's group or category management settings.
  2. Check filters. Some players filter by type (live, movies, series) or show favourites only.
  3. Refresh the playlist. Use the player's "update" or "reload" option — the list may be stale.
  4. Remove and re-add the playlist or account.
  5. Check content types. If on-demand sections are empty, your player may not support that content type for your access method, or it may not be included in your plan.

C: Channels won't play

  1. Try several channels. If only one fails, the issue is probably that stream — try again later.
  2. Switch decoder. Toggle between hardware and software decoding.
  3. Switch stream format. Try HLS instead of MPEG-TS, or the reverse.
  4. Check connections. If another device is streaming and your plan allows one connection, this one may be refused. See using IPTV on multiple devices.
  5. Restart the device and router.

Black screen with sound (or sound with no picture)

This usually points to decoding. Switch decoder first. If it happens only with 4K or HEVC content, your device may not support that format well.

Black screen with no sound

Usually a stream that hasn't started — try another channel, switch stream format, and check your connection.

After a player update

If channels stopped loading right after an app update:

  • Clear the app's cache
  • Check that settings like decoder and stream format haven't reset
  • Look for a further update or try another reputable player to compare

Still not loading?

Work through the broader IPTV not working guide. IPTV Apollo customers can contact support with the device, player, exact error and which channels are affected.

This guide is for general information. Third-party apps and device menus change over time; if something looks different on your device, check the app or manufacturer's own documentation. Brand names belong to their respective owners.
